Which Wich Parent Company Acquires Paciugo Gelato

Sinelli Concepts, the parent company of sandwich franchise Which Wich, is expanding its operations with a stable of brands across various segments. So far the company has acquired Burguesa Burger, Supernova Coffee, and most recently, Paciugo Gelato.

CEO Jeff Sinelli acquired 32-locations from Paciugo Gelato when it claimed bankruptcy in October 2018. According to Sinelli, few buyers take enough time to spend quality time with a newly acquired brand:

“I think a lot of buyers overlook the importance of creating trust and drilling in to learn the intricacies of a new business when they take it on. There’s a second exploratory period once the deal is final where it’s important to have the right team in place to not only create a smooth transition, but also to uncover both the problems and the hidden gems that haven’t been properly utilized.”

When it comes to franchising, Sinelli says that it’s crucial for the new management team to earn the trust of franchisees before it starts prioritizing growth. Sinelli says the company has a manufacturing facility and a wide range of foodservice touch points that will be enhanced over time.

Joining Sinelli Concepts as part of this major deal is Diego Comparin, the VP of research and development and production at Paciugo. Comparin is the man behind hundreds of gelato and macaroon flavors and extravagant menu items like spaghetti gelato and the Paciunicorn that have gone viral.

Bringing someone like Comparin into the mix will help with the transition phase for all the Sinelli brands.
