Which Wich Founder Jeff Sinelli Discusses Mistakes and How They Shaped His Business Philosophy
Jeff Sinelli, founder and chief vibe officer of Which Wich, a franchise sandwich shop that is known not only for the innumerable amount of flavorful and customizable sandwiches they offer but for their socially conscious actions as well, recently spoke about some of the early mistakes he made that shaped the future of his business. Today, Which Wich has over 500 locations in 39 states and 12 countries.
Looking back at the successful business’s beginnings in Dallas, however, Sinelli recalled that he was once attracted to the big promises and big money offered by businessmen. This is something Sinelli said commonly happens whenever one starts a franchise, but he soon found that their philosophy was contrary to his.
While Sinelli was in it for the long-haul, dedicated to providing delicious quality food and building relationships with his franchise owners, he realized that the franchise owners with the deepest pockets were more interested in building restaurants quickly to make a fast buck, flip the business, and move on to the next opportunity. This kind of profit-focused mentality went against Sinelli’s beliefs. Instead, he believed and continues to believe in putting guests first and providing an experience that fosters loyalty.
Sinelli walked away with an important lesson from his early mistakes. He considers Which Wich a generational business and purposely seeks other franchise owners who believe in the same philosophy he regards as a cornerstone of his business. With this, he believes Which Wich can continue to grow and thrive and contribute to local communities.
