Which Wich 9th Annual Flag Your Bag Campaign
Giving back to communities, whether locally or through system-wide programs, has been an integral part of Dallas-based Which Wich Superior Sandwiches’ concept almost since its inception. This year, the award-winning fast casual sandwich brand is launching its 9th annual Flag Your Bag campaign, from May 29 to July 4, 2017, to honor both active and veteran U.S. servicemen and women with their custom-made care packages.
Which Wich guests are encouraged to scribe heartfelt messages of compassion and support to members of the military on their signature brown bags throughout the campaign’s run. The bags will be filled with non-perishable donations and thank you notes from employees and volunteers as a token of appreciation for their service to the country. After Independence Day, the care packages will be distributed to military bases and veteran support organizations. Individual Which Wich locations have contributed as much as 2,000 of these care packages to local military bases.
As a brand that has earned a reputation for going above and beyond in every way, however, Which Wich didn’t stop there. Some locations have also partnered with larger organizations to ship donations overseas to active military members stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan, also including their signature brown bags.
This heartwarming act of charity and gratitude first began in 2008 when Which Wich franchisees across the United States collectively decided to give back to their communities and continuously hit new records every year as the tradition continued. It is something that, according to CEO Jeff Sinelli, employees and loyal fans look forward to every year. As such, Which Wich always seeks to set the bar higher for its donations. Last year, in 2016, 15,000 bags were collected between Memorial Day and Independence Day. To increase the campaign’s outreach and impact, the goal this year was set for 20,000 bags.
Of course, the Flag Your Bag campaign is not the only action the favored brand takes to support members of the U.S. military. Which Wich is also affiliated with the International Franchise Association’s VetFran initiative, which makes all honorably discharged veterans eligible for $10,000 off their initial franchise fee when they open their first Which Wich location.
Senior vice president of development for Which Wich, Jeff Vickers, believes it is the natural and right thing to do, given how much America’s military heroes do for us, and the number of sacrifices they make to keep the country safe. It’s not every day consumers are able to enjoy delicious food and the ability to participate in a good cause that will make a big difference to others, which makes Which Wich a uniquely altruistic option next time you decide you grab a bite to eat.
