Which Wich Owner Spreads Over 5,000 PB&J Sandwiches to Benefit Kids' Meals Houston

Here at Which Wich Superior Sandwiches, we take great pride in being an engrained part of the communities that support us and have made us into the success we are today. That’s why we take every opportunity we can to give back to our community and help however we can, and why we make it a point to select those who share in this passion as our franchisees and location owners.

Recently, a franchise owner in Katy, Texas, a suburb of Houston, showed just how much this commitment means by working to provide sandwiches to Kids’ Meals Houston, a local children’s charity. As a part of Which Wich’s Project PB&J initiative, Julio Chavez and an army of more than 30 volunteers made it their goal to make more than 5,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the organization!

Kids’ Meals Houston is a local charity that brings meals right to the doorstep of families with pre-school aged children. This particular age group is often underserved because they fall through a gap in social services when it comes to food security. The organization feeds approximately 4,800 kids in the Houston area every day.

Chavez told The Katy News “We’re excited to get the Katy community involved and Kids’ Meals Houston is a great organization. I’d love to do this event four times a year with my team. It makes a huge difference and I love to give back.”

Chavez initially began the charity drives and sandwich assemblies with the intention of doing it in his own shop, but the operation became so large that they had to move to a new location at the Sysco warehouse at I-45 and Beltway 8.

The event was held on August 13th, and it’s believed that it definitely won’t be the last time that Chavez and his sandwich shop hold one. For more information about getting involved with volunteer opportunities, Chavez invites the community to contact him at jchavez@whichwich.net.

Project PB&J is a franchise-wide initiative that all Which Wich Superior Sandwich shops participate in. Customers who come to their locations can purchase one of the sandwiches for three dollars. That sandwich, along with two others, are then donated to local charities to serve families in need. Two of the sandwiches are given away locally and a third is banked for the next time a disaster strikes when it is then given to someone in need. According to Chavez, the sandwiches were instrumental in the community in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
