Which Wich Helps Houston-Area Franchisee Achieve the American Dream

For Julio Chavez, Which Wich was so much more than just a job he took on as a teenager—it became his way of life and even allowed him to capture the fabled American dream.

Chavez and his family immigrated to the United States from Mexico when he was just two years old. Growing up in the Texas area, he dropped out of high school in his junior year in order to work and earn money to support his wife, who was pregnant with their first child. The desire to succeed and provide for his family was a motivation unlike any other.

“I was working 12-hour shifts every day,” Chavez told KHOU 11 News. “I had motivation, had a passion for it, and I really didn’t want to fail.”

And fail was something he never did. After starting as a sandwich maker, he was quickly promoted to manager, and then to the general manager position at his first store. Then, on just his 23^rd birthday, Chavez achieved his dream and opened his very first Which Wich Franchise in Humble.

“I remember I couldn’t sleep the first night, and like the first week. I was staying at the store, sleeping there. Going to the gym and just taking a shower there because I was so excited,” he said. “It was my dream.”

Not only did that dream succeed, but it has since flourished. Which Wich has expanded throughout the Houston area, and Chavez has been a huge part of it. After selling his first shop in Humble, today he now owns three Which Wich Superior Sandwich locations, including two in Katy and his most recent opening in The Woodlands. He even has a food truck which he uses to cater to corporate events, public gatherings, and other opportunities.

Chavez’s dream is far from over as well. While he’s extremely happy with the foundation he’s built, his goals have grown to become even larger over time. “My dream is like having 20 stores, but I don’t know, who knows?” he said. With support from the Which Wich franchise and a mastery of his trade, the sky really does appear to be the limit for this burgeoning entrepreneur in the Houston area.
